Through fundraising and other donations, we are a resource for at-risk teenagers at the two high schools closest to us. Each year we work to supply teens with clothing and school supplies, as well as trying to help out with emergency needs for specific kids as we become aware of them. During the holidays we support Mount Diablo Unified School District's Homeless Outreach Program for Education which supplies unhoused students with gift cards to help them have a brighter season and let them know people do care about them. We have also supported Monument Crisis Center.
We are an Inclusive church that accepts all, and we regularly participate in local Pride days and other LGBTQI+ outreach programs.
In addition to these two areas, we also have had fundraising projects for World Central Kitchen which cooks and serves hot meals at "ground zero" zones in Ukraine, Gaza and elsewhere without regard to politics or status.
Many students of Olympic and Mt Diablo High are homeless or have very fragile living situations, including foster care, and there is little or no funding to help them out.
Our goal is to provide hoodies, socks, shorts, tee shirts and other warm clothing for the kids at Olympic. We also support their care closet with donations of shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
We were able to gift almost every student at Olympic with these valuable items last year!
While our main push is just before school starts, however, we will happily accept donations or gift cards throughout the year, which will be used for emergency needs.
We are looking for donations of new items such as:
"Hoodies" Jackets for winter Basketball-style shorts
Socks (Yes, really) Black Tee Shirts Sweatpants/Sweatshirts
Donate thru the gift cards or the offering plate, Zelle or the Giving link above; make sure you note it's for "Schools." This way we can make decisions on what to get based on what's come in so far.
The Fine Print:
1) Must be new items
2) We cannot accept "hot" red or royal (Dodger) Blue items
3) No sports teams
4) Overwhelming preference is for Hoodies and light jackets
5) Color preferences: Black, Grey, Navy (Dark) blue, brown.
Questions on specific items, styles, etc.
please see Keith, Jacob or Maria.
This group meets the first Tuesday of every month in the Keith Coppage Mission Center at Holy Spirit Church.
The Grant Street Players annually organize a Necessities Drive for Monument Crisis Center. Last year's Lenten drive included travel sized personal items, shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste, tooth brush, deodorant, shaving cream, lotion, kleenex and socks
